Short-Term Goal

Filed under: Goals, Weight Loss — 1701MJ @ 12:44 pm

Before my son is born, I want to get as close to 270 as possible.  22 lbs in 2 months is probably unrealistic, but I want to try to get as low as I can before he comes out.

People will be taking pictures and the thing that got me on the wagon originally back in 2002 was seeing how disgusting I looked in the pics from my friends’ wedding.  I don’t want there to be more pics like that that will be kept forever…

Long-Term Goal

Filed under: Goals, Weight Loss — 1701MJ @ 8:29 am

My ultimate goal is to lose an average of 5 lbs a month for the next 12 months so that I will get down to around 230.  I think that 230 would qualify me for “not so fat” status and I would be ecstatic to get there.

How realistic is losing 5 lbs a month?  I think it is very realistic, in fact for the first few months I will probably be able to lose more because the more overweight you are, the easier it comes off with smaller changes.

What happens when I get there?  I’ll set a new goal, but it’s important to maintain the weight loss this time.  I can’t lose it then gain it all back again, that cycle is extremely unhealthy both physically and psychologically.

Weigh-In: 292

How did I let it get this bad?  This is the most I’ve ever weighed!

The closest I came to this weight in the past was almost four years ago when I maxed out at 290.  The good news is that around that time I started to excercise and eat better and lost about 20 lbs in 3 months.

I then went on to lose 20 more pounds by August of 2005, but it looks like I’ve gained it all back since then.  Goes to show what eating badly and not excercising can do to you…
